Maria Rosalia Monroe (VoVó) immigrated to the United States from Brazil in 1986 with her three children. In 2002, Rosalia opened her dream restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas called Cafe Bossa Nova. Her once small restaurant grew to own the entire first floor of the building she occupied with her own bakery next door and brought in countless people from all walks of life! Her Brazilian cuisine is a staple in Arkansas to this day. Rosalia’s best selling item is her cheese bread appetizer. After having so many requests for people to have her cheese bread fresh at home, she decided to start selling her cheese bread frozen in small ziplock bags as well as to some local cafeterias in the area.
Rosalia passed down her secret cheese bread recipe to her granddaughter, Briana Veiga, in hopes to have her carry on her legacy of sharing Brazilian cuisine and culture to the world. Briana started VoVó’s Market in 2022 to make this dream come true!
